Karli Evans

Director / Performer and understudy

Karli Evans is an actor, writer and director with over 20 years’ experience in both film and theatre. She has written and performed numerous theatre productions which have been staged in Sydney, Newcastle, regional NSW, the UK and New York to sold out audiences and four-starred reviews. She has written podcast scripts for university programs and is currently working on a television mini series based on a woman’s real story of survival. As an actor, Karli can most recently be seen in 2022 short film, Touched which won three awards at international festivals, as well as 2020 feature, Public Eye which won 20 awards including best ensemble cast, and 2023 feature film, The Switchblade Sisterhood which has won multiple awards.

Fun and favourite theatre roles include Roberta from Danny and the Deep Blue Sea and Marcia Marie from Where’s My Money? Both plays are by the incredible, John Patrick Shanley

Karli trained at University of Wollongong Theatre Performance and travelled to the UK to train in David Mamet’s Practical Aesthetics technique at ACS. Karli is highly experienced in creating accessible work that is based on real stories and events. She has been invited to use these skills in creative residencies in Beijing (China), The Rocks (Sydney), and Bundanon (Nowra), developing unique and responsive performance works that explore participatory possibilities in order to generate dialogue within the community.
